Sublimation vs Screen Printing vs DTF: Which Jersey Printing Is Best?

Sublimation vs Screen Printing vs DTF: Which Jersey Printing Is Best?

Not all jersey printing is the same. The method you choose decides how your design looks, how long it lasts, and how much it costs. Here is a plain-language comparison of the main techniques we use at Jersey Canvas.

Sublimation printing

Sublimation dyes the design directly into the fabric, so the print never cracks, peels, or fades — and the jersey stays fully breathable. It is the gold standard for sports jerseys with all-over patterns, gradients, and photographic detail. Best for football, cricket, esports, and cycling kits.

Screen printing

Screen printing pushes ink through a stencil onto the fabric. It is durable and cost-effective for large runs of simple, one- to three-colour designs — ideal for event T-shirts, campaign shirts, and bulk institutional orders where every shirt is identical.

DTF and DTG printing

DTF (direct-to-film) and DTG (direct-to-garment) reproduce full-colour, detailed artwork on cotton and blends without a minimum colour count. They are perfect for small batches, one-off custom tees, and complex graphics where sublimation is not suitable.

Embroidery

Embroidery stitches the design into the fabric for a premium, textured finish that lasts for years. It is the go-to for logos on polos, jackets, and corporate wear — anywhere you want a refined, professional look.

Quick recommendation

Choose sublimation for performance sports jerseys, screen printing for large simple runs, DTF/DTG for small full-colour batches, and embroidery for premium logos. Not sure? Send us your design and we will recommend the best method for your budget and deadline.
